'Change appears to come about through experience in a relationship'
Karl Rogers
Horses are herd animals and as such are very aware of the emotional state of those around them. They are able to reflect this information back to us in a very visceral way. Horses are part of our therapeutic team and are often very useful for clients who do not wish to or are unable verbally express their issues. Using horses allows the client to address things at their own pace. Rather than intellectualising a problem, judging it and instructing their clients, horses build a relationship where real personal growth can occur at the clients own pace.
The work done using the LEAP model is a mix of reflective work, where stillness and thoughtfulness are used, as well as more active exercises where energy levels, boundaries and confidence are trained.
